Noel: What are
Katie: we talking about this week?
Noel: Well, I thought we'd go into a bit about creating digital products and how
Katie: we can
Noel: hopefully automate that as well.
Katie: Exciting, very excited. I really like adding digital products to a like business and products suite. I feel like so many business owners are trading time and like time for money. So, you know, they're spending all these times on calls or creating a service, you know, delivering that service that actually they can't fit in anymore. They can't grow their business. They can't scale it in any way because of that, you know, trading time for money. And usually these people are so knowledgeable, have so much experience that they can create digital products to teach people, you know, what they know. So, you know, you can be something that's really sure. It can be something really in depth. And, yeah, just kind of like put it on your website. You can put it on Etsy, you know, other marketplaces.
Noel: Yeah. Yeah, I think I could do with some digital products.
Katie: Yes.
Noel: Definitely. Yes.
Katie: I can help you with that.
Noel: I'm sure you will. Yeah.
Katie: And, of course, a lot of people think, well, I'd really love to create a digital product, but I don't have time. So we're going to discuss this in this episode. But before we kind of go into that with the automation and the AI part of it, I just want to say, if you do want to create like a digital product and you think you don't have time, I get it, I understand. But if you do really want to do it, just set yourself a deadline because if you say I want to create a digital product but you have no deadline then you're continuously going to say I don't have time I want to create it I don't have time I want to create it and it goes around in that vicious circle right
Noel: yeah definitely I've been in that circle yeah
Katie: so you set yourself a deadline so or you can set yourself several deadlines so So it could be, like, I'm going to launch in, you know, two months, or I'm going to launch at the end of next month. I'm going to launch in three months' time. And then you can even break it down into smaller, like, goals. So it could be in two weeks' time, I'm going to have finalised, like, exactly what my digital product is going to be. In three weeks' time, I'm going to have written, I don't know, X amount of it. In four weeks time, I'm going to have written all of it.
Noel: Yeah.
Katie: In six weeks time, I'm going to have, I'm going to have like sales copy created. So it's these small milestones that actually, you know, just help you break down the whole process of creating that digital product. And I feel like instead of like saying, I'm going to create a digital product and you're like, great, but I don't have time, if you're just breaking it down into like small manageable chunks that are, you know, suitable for you. So if you're someone that maybe struggles with copy and you know a deadline's going to really help you, then maybe like giving yourself a week to do it might be really helpful. Or, you know, if you're someone who loves creating, you know, graphics and stuff and you're, you know, you want to make sure that they're, you know, spot off. on, again, don't give yourself too much time because I feel like you could always be tweaking and like changing it. So again, like be like, right, I'm given myself, you know, a week to do the graphics or to design it. And then after that, like, it's, it's good. Yeah.
Noel: Got be tinkering forever.
Katie: No, you cannot be tinkering forever because, you know, really good is good enough. it does not have to be perfect and especially like if it's your first digital product honestly like I would say most people really don't care how it looks they just want the information from you as long as they're able to consume it you know it's clear they can follow it they can you know grab the information that they need in a really easy way don't overcomplicate it
Noel: Keep it simple.
Katie: Yeah, keep it simple. Yeah, exactly. It doesn't have to be like all bells and whistles. Like don't compare as well your first digital product to someone who's like, I don't know, on their hundreds digital product. That's really important as well. And, you know, if it's just you don't compare someone who is creating these digital products and they've got a, you know, a massive full-time team behind them, you know, and actually it's just like I want to create digital projects and then their title and their team to create all of it for them. So I feel like that's really important as well. There's just like, you know, don't look left and right. Just concentrate on what you want to do and what you want to create.
Noel: Yeah, absolutely sounds good. I'm already thinking of what I could create.
Katie: Okay. Maybe we will have a little challenge, you know, and we'll both agree to a timeline and we'll create a digital project each. Yeah,
Noel: we've got a lot coming up, though, haven't we, in the next few weeks?
Katie: But we don't have to have it completed in the next few weeks.
Noel: No, no, no.
Katie: We could say we could have a digital project to go live at the, you know, start of. 2026.
Noel: Yeah, September 2026, yeah. Got to give myself some time.
Katie: Yeah, but you don't want to give yourself too much time. Yeah, exactly. Because then you're always putting it off constantly.
Noel: Very true.
Katie: Yeah, and you're already like, oh, I've got, you know, I know what I want to create. I've got, you know, different things that I can create. Okay, so why put it off? Yeah.
Noel: I'm the kind of person that will put it off and then rush it in the last five minutes.
Katie: I also think as well, like, if you announce to your audience that, you know, in the new year I'm going to be launching some new digital products, it also gives you a little bit of accountability. Now, I'm not saying, you know, give people a date. Like, so I wouldn't say, oh, we're going to be launching some digital products on the 6th of January. because things do, you know, go wrong, something's happened. You could change your mind completely about what you want to create. That often happens. Obviously, near the time, you want to start telling people about what is coming, you know, build up that excitement and that launch period. But I can just say to people, I'm going to be creating some digital products, and I'm going to be launching them in January. and that's it but you've you've kind of almost given yourself a little bit more accountability for it as well
Noel: yeah yeah absolutely yeah we also get some idea if people are interested as all it's always helpful
Katie: well yeah you you want to make sure as well you are creating something that you know you know your audience wants so maybe they've been asking for it maybe you've having lots of conversations and you're seeing that, you know, there's some gaps in the market or, you know, you've got a unique take on teaching something or a unique way of teaching something. I think that always does really, really well with digital products.
Noel: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
Katie: Maybe we should try a challenge as well as our membership at AI Business Club. I feel like maybe we should get them in on this challenge as well. So maybe we should put that out to them if they want to come and join us on this challenge and we all launch something in January.
Noel: Yeah, sounds like fun, yeah.
Katie: It would be interesting
Noel: whatever all would come up with.
Katie: Yeah, I think that would be really fun.
Noel: Yeah, we've got a lot of different people in there, haven't we? Different backgrounds,
Katie: different businesses to see. Different types of businesses.
Noel: Yeah, be good.
Katie: Yeah, excited. Okay, so we've talked, obviously, about digital products and actually, you know, helping you launch it. But let's talk about, like, how we can use AI in automations to help us with this process. So, no, I will hand over to you with the how.
Noel: Okay. So there's many ways to tackle it, I guess. is obviously our old friend chat GPT, that that will do a good job, especially if you're creating content where there's lots of written content in there kind of thing. So, you know, that can help you plan out a structure.
Katie: Yeah.
Noel: And, you know, you can work with it and, you know, create all that text for you so you don't have to. But that kind of gets you so far. You could also get to create things in like PDFs. So that could be your downloadable straight away. I wouldn't say it would win any design awards. But if your customers are only looking just for that particular content and they don't care of the looks and fields of it, then that would work perfectly fine. Yeah.
Katie: And I think that's really important as well. It's using chat GPT to help you rather than to write it because, again, going back to our episode with Lucy Wheeler, with the, you know, where we were talking about the legal side of AI. It's like, well, if you've not created it, then you don't own it. We will put the link to that episode below. I know we reference it quite a lot, but it's really important. And Lucy's got like a whole module within her legal AI toolkit. Talks all about like if you're using chat chachyp to create content who owns it because actually do you own it? so that's really interesting so it's not getting it to create the content for you it's helping you create the content yeah
Noel: exactly yeah at least get you 80% of the way there
Katie: yes yeah
Noel: um i guess the other way is getting a bit more into the automation side of things so if you're wanting to create like a digital product and then have several flavors of the same thing so it could be like a brochure or a document or whatever that you're putting out so it would be a different theme for each one you could like create templates within either like Google Docs you can even use Google slides anything like that and what we can do in our other favorite tool make.com is to get the AI to fill out the different sections within that document so you can say well this document's going to be about this particular product or whatever you want to talk about, you know, here's all the fields and it will go off and then pre-populate all of that and then save it straight into Google Drive.
Katie: That's so cool.
Noel: Yeah, it'll be done in a couple of minutes.
Katie: Yeah, that is all done.
Noel: Yeah, I guess the good thing about that is obviously you could create one yourself to start off with and then use that as like your base template and then also feed in the text from that document as well into the AI that you've got in that automation so it understands what it's kind of expected to do. So yeah, you don't want content where it's like a couple of paragraphs and then it just produces bullet lists. Well, that's not what he wants.
Katie: Yeah.
Noel: So yeah, giving it examples, it was helpful. Yeah,
Katie: absolutely.
Noel: Yeah. But that gives you a bit more freedom to make it look nice, especially with things like Google slides. It works very similar to Google Docs and things like. But you know, you can definitely get a bit more creative with that. Make it look a bit nicer.
Katie: Yeah.
Noel: Always good. Yeah.
Katie: And another way of getting like AI to help you create these digital products is by using a website called PageWil, which is ran by Rachel Miller in. Holly Homer, two incredible women in business who I admired for, you know, about nine years now. I have the privilege of interviewing Holly on my other podcast and we're still trying to get Rachel on this podcast, just getting diaries to match up. And she's a busy lady. But yeah, I would love for Rachel to come on and tell you more about Paige Will. But it's really cool. So they've got lots and lots of different templates that you can, like, edit and make your own. And it creates it within, like, a few seconds for you. And what's really great about page wheel is that you can also host your digital product on page wheel. So you don't have to have your own website that you, you know, so I know a lot of business owners don't tend to have websites these days. so that that's great as well. We'll leave the link so you can check that out in our show notes. But yeah, hopefully we'll get Rachel or Holly to come on our podcast and talk all about it because it's really amazing what they built and created.
Noel: Yeah, I've seen it in action. It's pretty cool.
Katie: Yeah, it's so cool. So we've got a couple of options. on how to actually create it?
Noel: Yeah, I've just thought there's probably one more, and that would be Canva, but with the bulk create. So that allows you to create your base template and then use like a table format to create all different bits, like different pages or iterations of the same thing, basically. But what you could do with that is, although filling out, typing out in a table can take a while, you could get your favorite AI to export everything for you in a dot CSV format and then upload that into Canva and then you're done. So that's another quick way around it. Yeah.
Katie: That's how like a lot of people who make, you know, like the quote cards or the affirmation cards, that's what they do. So they put like all the affirmations into a spreadsheet and then just upload it into Canva and it creates like hundreds of. graphics within, yeah, like a minute border.
Noel: Yeah.
Katie: That's so cool, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Noel: yeah, yeah, I think you could, yeah, I'm sure if the Canva API would allow you to, I think, yeah, you can download and then you'd be able to post it straight away and stuff like that.
Katie: Yeah.
Noel: Yeah, yeah, Canver API is a bit restrictive, though.
Katie: Okay.
Noel: It could be better.
Katie: Yeah. Anything else?
Noel: I think we've covered pretty much every. base, I believe. So yeah, I think that kind of gives everyone a good overview as sort of what we could be doing. And yeah, for me, I'm excited to get started and thinking about creating digital products.
Katie: I'm quite excited to hear all about them.
Noel: Oh, go.
Katie: Yeah.
Noel: See if they ever happened with my procrastination. Yeah.
Katie: At this time we've recorded, so we've done a little session where we've recorded a few podcasts all at once because we've got lots of things going on at the moment. Noel and I are about to take a trip, so like a holiday. So this is Mine and Noel's first holiday together since January. And I can already tell that now we've just had this conversation that he is going to spend the holiday thinking of these digital products like he he he he does this to me he does this to me he'll be on the plane and i'll be watching some something on netflix i'm planning on watching the rest of jinnee and georgia season three i also want to watch so i i would like watching stuff on the plane that i wouldn't watch with nol so yeah jinny and georgia's going to be one with them. And I just know that Noel's going to have his headbones in. He's going to be listening, I don't know, to something random, but he's not really going to be listening to it. He's just going to be, like, taking notes about what digital products he's going to be making. And then, I guarantee our whole conversation while we're away will be about digital products. So, please send thoughts and press to me, everyone.
Noel: Oh, but yeah, very true. Yeah, I'll probably have a think about it on the plane, but there's nothing else better to do on the plane, is there? So, yeah.
Katie: Yeah, watch rubbish Netflix. Oh,
Noel: no, I'll leave that for you. Oh,
Katie: well, thank you so much for joining us on this episode. We hope you've really enjoyed it and hope you've learnt something from it. if you're planning on creating some digital projects, come and tell us what they are.
